RESEARCH
My research asks how political and economic forces shape conservation decisions, and what motivates governments to protect nature.
Drawing on conservation work and field research in Alaska and Uganda, I’m interested in the tensions between conservation, development, and local priorities. My PhD research at Stanford’s Doerr School of Sustainability builds on these experiences to examine how financial incentives, political institutions, competing economic interests, and different ways of valuing nature influence whether governments choose conservation over extraction.
