Writing is the thread that ties together all aspects of my professional and creative journey. From academic publications to creative storytelling for film, writing has become both a passion and one of my greatest tools. I’ve come to embrace the art and craft of writing even more deeply as my career has evolved. Whether I'm weaving complex ideas into a compelling research paper, drafting advocacy reports, or scripting narratives that bring environmental and social justice issues to life on screen, I’m always drawn to the power of words to inspire, inform, and create change.
Translating science into clear, accessible, and engaging writing is one of my passions. Research matters most when the people who can use it can actually read it, so I try to make complex findings understandable without losing the rigor behind them.
Pre-production and post-production are two of my favorite parts of filmmaking. I love the early work of shaping an idea, researching it, and finding the story worth telling. I also love the edit, where the writing, the footage, and the structure come together and a film finds its shape.
In 2025, I won a Leo Award for writing on The Nature of Things episode "Animal Pride."

My academic and my creative writing often come from the same questions: who decides how nature is protected, who benefits, and whose stories get told along the way. I move between academic research and storytelling because each helps me do the other better.
